Diena Simmons graduated from BYU with a bachelor’s degree in Motion Picture and TV Directing in 1981. She later returned to BYU to complete a master’s degree in Mass Communications in 2003. In her master’s thesis, “Motivations and Gratifications for Selecting a Niche Television Channel: BYU Television”, Simmons examines the relationships among ritual and instrumental viewing motivations and satisfactions, viewer religiosity, and viewing attentiveness as they relate to the selection of a niche television channel, Brigham Young University Television. Simmons is currently the station manager of KBYU Eleven, a division of BYU Broadcasting. She teaches public speaking at Utah Valley University and BYU.
